Privacy notice for WeatherPro1 web and iOS · October 7, 2026

In short: The web app offers optional accounts on its local server; the native iOS app does not use accounts. WeatherPro1 includes no advertising or analytics. The native iOS app does not request device location permission or keep a location history. Weather searches send the selected place or coordinates to forecast providers.

Information sent for weather

The city, region, or postal code you enter is sent to Open-Meteo’s geocoding service. The resulting coordinates and time zone are sent to Open-Meteo’s forecast service. For U.S. locations, coordinates are sent to the National Weather Service API for official active alerts, text forecasts, and nearby station reports; the web app requests text forecasts directly and routes station lookups through its local server, while the native iOS app requests the NWS API directly. A station report can be delayed during quality checks and is labeled with its station and observation time. If you enable “NWS hourly rain chance,” WeatherPro1 also requests the NWS hourly forecast for the selected coordinates. In that mode, hourly and daily rain probabilities use NWS values while precipitation amounts and other forecast metrics continue to use Open-Meteo; if NWS hourly data is unavailable, WeatherPro1 identifies the fallback to Open-Meteo. For locations in the contiguous U.S., WeatherPro1 also requests an MRMS base-reflectivity radar image directly from NOAA’s public GeoServer using the selected coordinates. These requests provide forecast, alert, observation, and radar features.

WeatherPro1 does not intentionally send your account email, password, contact list, or advertising identifier to weather providers. The web app may route some provider requests through its local server; the native iOS app makes its supported weather requests directly. Weather providers receive network requests and handle them under their own policies.

Links you choose to open

If you tap a source card, the selected place may be included in the link opened for that weather provider. That provider’s own privacy policy applies after you leave WeatherPro1.

Storage and choices

Optional web accounts store a display name, email, salted password hash, saved idea numbers, and login sessions in a file on the Mac running the local WeatherPro1 server. The account does not sync through a cloud service. Guest saved ideas and web forecast logs stay in the browser until cleared; signing out restores the browser’s guest ideas. Clearing browser data does not delete an account or its saved ideas. Exports happen only when you press an export button. Forecasts and ideas are sent to Airtable only after you choose the matching save action. If a recent NWS station report is available, a selected forecast snapshot may include its station, report time, and measured values in the existing Notes field, clearly labeled as an observation separate from the forecast. The native iOS app has no account profile. Your rain-chance source preference is stored on your device. You can stop sending a place by not searching for it.
